A great tree has fallen at Osu Alata. A son of the and Ayertey houses, a grandson of royalty, a friend, a father, a husband — has answered the call beyond the river. We do not say farewell; we say Da yie — rest well, until the morning.

A Life Lived

His Journey

a Ghanaian elder walked among us for 55 remarkable years — a son of the and Ayertey houses of Osu Alata, and grandson of the celebrated a distinguished forebear, whose name still echoes through the streets of Accra and the history of the Gold Coast.

To his children, he was a patient guide. To Madam Florence Akua Ansah, his beloved widow, he was a devoted husband. To his siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces, he was the steady voice at every gathering — quick with a joke, slower to take offence, and always present when the family needed him most.

On Tuesday, 17th March sample year, after a sudden illness, the deceased transitioned at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Legon. He leaves behind a legacy not measured in possessions, but in people — the lives he touched, the wounds he soothed, the names he remembered.

He was loved. He is loved. And he will be remembered.
